Une fois de plus, j'ai passé un moment au SS GREAT BRITAIN pour découvrir le nouveau musée qui a ouvert ses portes il y a seulement quelques semaines et qui porte si bien son nom "BEING BRUNEL" (qui veut dire Etre Brunel).
Avant tout, c'est un musée que j'adore car il est unique en son genre et idéalement situé dans le magnifique port de Bristol. Venir ici sans visiter ce bateau incroyable et chargé d'histoire serait un regret. C'est Isambard Kingdom Brunel qui est à l'origine de sa construction et il osé imposer son style, ses idées. En effet, il a eu la brillante idée de construire ce bateau avec une hélice (qui à cette époque en 1843 était une idée novatrice).

Tout près de l'entrée principale et en allant sur votre droite, c'est là que se trouve le musée "BEING BRUNEL".
Once again I spent some time at the SS GREAT BRITAIN to discover the new museum that opened just a few weeks ago and that bears so well its name "BEING BRUNEL".
Above all it is a museum that I love because it is unique and ideally located in the beautiful harborside of Bristol. To come here without visiting this incredible boat and steeped in history would be a regret. It is Isambard Kingdom Brunel who is at the origin of its construction and he dared to impose his style, his ideas. Indeed he had the brilliant idea to build this boat with a propeller (which at that time in 1843 was an innovative idea).

Close to the main entrance and on your right is the museum "BEING BRUNEL".
Quelle surprise en arrivant dans ce nouveau musée et en fait, c'est la suite logique du bateau. J'ai pu apercevoir sur ma gauche un autre café au cas où l'envie me prendrait d'aller boire une tasse de thé. Mais en attendant, je rentre et là je tombe directement dans cette superbe salle qui s'appelle la Shakespeare room. J'ai comme l'impression d'être invitée chez Brunel et sa famille. On s'y croit vraiment !!
What a surprise when arriving in this new museum and in fact, it is the logical continuation of the boat. I could see on my left another coffee place in case I wanted to go for a cup of tea. But in the meantime I fall directly into this beautiful room called Shakespeare room. I feel like I'm invited to Brunel and his family. We really believe in it !!
J'ai pris le temps de m'imprégner de l'histoire de cette salle et de découvrir la vaisselle et les autres attractions visuelles. Ce musée est dedié à Monsieur Brunel et tout au long de la visite, j'ai découvert 1001 choses sur sa vie et son travail. La mise en scène de ses effets personnels est très intéressante car elle m'a permis d'en apprendre plus sur le personnage et sur sa folle intelligence. Et en plus, il a participé grandement à l'elaboration du Clifton Suspension Bridge à Bristol.
I took the time to immerse myself in the history of this room and discover the dishes and other visual attractions. This museum is dedicated to Mr. Brunel and throughout the visit I discovered 1001 things about his life and his work. The staging of his personal effects is very interesting because it allowed me to learn more about the character and his crazy intelligence. And in addition, he participated greatly in the development of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.
Ce musée est aussi bien fait et accessible pour les adultes, les enfants et les personnes handicapées. A l'étage, J'ai beaucoup aimé les différentes experiences intéractives et sensorielles comme celle où j'ai eu l'impression d'être dans la tête et dans les pensées de Brunel. En effet, comme il n'arrêtait jamais de penser, on arrive dans cette salle où les images et les senteurs se côtoient. C'est vraiment très sympa !! Et puis en passant une porte, je suis directement arrivée dans le bureau de Brunel recrée à l'identique. J'ai toujours trouvé des informations en anglais afin de comprendre au mieux les différentes salles ou bien effets personnels.
This museum is also well made and accessible for adults, children and people with disabilities. Upstairs I really liked the different interactive and sensory experiences like the one where I had the impression of being in the mind and thoughts of Brunel. Indeed as he never stopped thinking I arrive in this room where images and scents rub shoulders. It's really very nice !! And then through a door I arrived directly in Brunel's office recreated identically. I have always found information in English to better understand the different rooms or personal effects.
Quelle belle experience que je recommande à toute personne venant à Bristol. Ce musée complète vraiment le bateau. Les Adultes et les enfants pourront apprécier tout ce qui est proposé. Il ne faut pas hésiter à être curieux et toucher à tout dans le musée ;-)

J'ai fini la visite en allant au café en prenant une bonne tasse de thé accompagné d'une part délicieuse de cake aux raisins. Pour partir, je suis passée par la boutique et j'ai vu des choses très chouettes.

What a great experience that I recommend to anyone coming to Bristol. This museum really completes the boat. Adults and children will appreciate everything that is on offer. Do not hesitate to be curious and touch everything in the museum ;-)

I ended the visit by going to the cafe with a cup of tea and a delicious piece of raisin cake. To leave, I went through the shop and saw some very nice things.
