For those who have been following me for a while you must know that Bath is one of my favorite cities and I am lucky to be able to get there without difficulty because since Bristol I have the choice to either take the train from the Temple Meads train station or the bus that will be much longer. Whenever I visit or revisit a city I am always happy because I know that I will be able to share beautiful photos but especially to show you that England is not only about London.
Taking advantage of a day off I decided to take the time to visit this beautiful city full of history. I especially want to share with you the Christmas market which takes place every year and then also 3 places that I wanted to see absolutely.

Pour ceux qui me suivent depuis un moment, vous devez savoir que Bath est l'une de mes villes favorites et j'ai la chance de pouvoir m'y rendre sans difficulté puisque depuis Bristol, j'ai le choix soit de prendre le train depuis la gare de Temple Meads ou bien le bus qui lui par contre sera bien plus long. A chaque fois que je visite ou revisite une ville je suis toujours heureuse car je sais que je vais pouvoir partager de belles photos mais surtout vous montrer que L'Angleterre ne se résume pas uniquement à Londres.
Profitant d'une journée de repos, j'avais donc décidé de prendre le temps pour visiter cette magnifique si belle et remplie d'histoire. J'ai surtout envie de vous partager son marché de Noël qui a lieu tous les ans et puis aussi 3 endroits que je voulais voir absolument.
BATH CHRISTMAS MARKET 2019
The Market will take place from Thursday 28th November to Sunday 15th December
Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 10am–7pm
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays: 10am–8pm
Sundays: 10am–6pm
It must be admitted that this Christmas market is just beautiful and I understand why it attracts so many people every year for 18 days. With 150 wooden chalets spread across the city, local craft art can be discovered and it is also another way to encourage small businesses to develop their business. My eyes have each time been amazed by all the smells of food, mulled wines but also by all these beautiful lights and gifts.
I loved walking around during the day to discover a part of the market to finish my day by visiting another part and especially to see all these lights of Christmas. And then at the corner of a street I could discover different musical chorals.
The experience in this market is really complete and above all we feel so well the magic atmosphere of Christmas. You can easily spend the whole day in Bath but going on extended weekends is even better because there is so much to discover.
Of course I plan to come back and complete my visits.

Il faut bien avouer que ce marché de Noël est juste magnifique et je comprends pourquoi il attire tant de personnes chaque année pendant 18 jours. Avec 150 chalets en bois qui sont répartis à travers la ville, on peut découvrir des artisans locaux et c'est surtout aussi une autre façon d'encourager les petites entreprises à developper leurs arts. Mes yeux ont à chaque fois été émerveillés par toutes les odeurs de nourriture, de vins chauds mais aussi par toutes ces cadeaux.
J'ai beaucoup aimé me balader en journée afin de découvrir une partie du marché pour finir ma journée en visitant une autre partie et surtout voir toutes ces lumières de noël. Et puis au détour d'une rue, j'ai pu découvrir différentes troupes musicales qui chantaient si bien les chants de noël.
L'experience au sein de ce marché est vraiment complète et surtout on sent si bien l'ambiance magique de Noël. On peut facilement passer la journée entière à Bath mais partir en weekend prolongé, c'est encore mieux car il y a tellement de choses à découvrir.
Bien évidemment, je prévois de revenir et de compléter mes visites.

During the night the Christmas market looks so magical
The city of Bath is also the opportunity to take the time to visit the city and especially for a while I wanted to see The Jane Austen Center which is a museum dedicated to the famous English novelist. We know her for having published Reason and Feeling and also Pride and Prejudice.
The museum is located in the heart of the city in a period house I learnt during the visit that the city of Bath was so important in the life of Jane. I also liked that this tour was guided and it was the benefit of asking relevant questions. I could also discover different periods of his life staged with characters and it was great to be able to see closer his works as well as his personal life.
For the fan of Jane Austen you will have the opportunity to extend this moment by enjoying an Afternoon tea at the Regency Tea room which is just above the exhibition. I strongly advise you to book your table before.

La ville de Bath, c'est aussi la possibilité de prendre le temps pour visiter la ville et surtout depuis un moment, je voulais voir " The Jane Austen Centre" qui est un musée dédié à la célèbre romancière anglaise. On la connait pour avoir publié "Raison et Sentiment" et aussi "Orgueil et Préjugés".
Le centre est situé en plein coeur de la ville dans une maison d'époque, j'ai pu apprendre durant la visite que la ville de Bath était importante dans la vie de Jane. J'ai aimé aussi que cette visite soit guidée et c'était l'avantage de poser des questions pertinentes. J'ai pu aussi découvrir différentes périodes de sa vie mise en scène avec des personnages en cires et c'était chouette de pouvoir s'imprégner au plus près de ses oeuvres ainsi que de sa vie personnelle.
Pour la fan de Jane Austen, vous aurez la possibilité de prolonger ce moment en dégustant un "Afternoon tea à la Regency Tea room" qui se trouve juste au-dessus de l'exposition. Je vous conseille vivement de réserver votre table avant.

After this visit, I had the urge to walk a bit to enjoy this beautiful winter day and I stopped at the Fashion Museum Bath https://www.fashionmuseum.co.uk/events/history-fashion-100-objects
I love fashion and this museum is just a little gem in the city not to be missed. I did not hesitate to take the time to understand the history of fashion in 100 objects which is the permanent exhibition. I had an audio guide in French which allowed me to discover different stories. There are also temporary exhibitions like Gloves Stories that you can admire until March 1 2020 but also the Dress of the Year 2019 valid until the end of December 2020.
This museum is very well done and we can discover all these dresses and accessories so easily. You can spend at least 2 to 3 hours inside the museum. I also invite you to walk a little bit inside the museum to discover also The assembly rooms which are meeting rooms opened in 1771. The rooms have been specially designed for an eighteenth-century form of entertainment called assembly. A large number of guests gathered to dance, drink tea, play cards and listen to music or simply wander.
Not to mention the gift shop where you can find very interesting fashion books and many others souvenir. If you have a little bit thirsty do not hesitate to have a drink in the Assembly Room Café.
Après cette visite, j'ai eu l'envie de me balader un peu pour profiter de cette belle journée d'hiver et je me suis arrêtée au "Fashion Museum Bath" https://www.fashionmuseum.co.uk/events/history-fashion-100-objects
J'adore la mode et ce musée est juste une petite perle dans la ville à ne pas manquer. Je n'ai pas hésité à prendre le temps pour comprendre l'histoire de la mode en 100 objets qui est l'exposition permanente. J'avais un audio guide en français, ce qui m'a permit de découvrir différentes anecdotes. On y retrouve aussi des expos temporaires comme "Gloves stories" que vous pouvez admirez jusqu'au 1 mars 2020 mais aussi "Dress of the Year 2019" valable jusqu'à fin décembre 2020.
Ce musée est très bien réalisé et l'on découvre avec enchantement toutes ces robes et accessoires si facilement. On peut facilement passer au moins 2 à 3 heures à l'intérieur du musée. Je vous invite aussi à vous promener un peu dans le musée pour découvrir aussi "The assembly rooms" qui sont des salles de réunion ouvertes en 1771. Les salles ont été spécialement conçues pour une forme de divertissement du XVIIIe siècle appelée «assemblée». Un grand nombre d'invités se sont réunis pour danser, boire du thé, jouer aux cartes et écouter de la musique - ou tout simplement se promener.
Sans oublier la boutique de souvenirs où l'on peut trouver des livres très interessants sur la mode et si vous avez une petite soif, n'hésitez pas à vous poser dans le "Assembly Room Café".
And finally I ended my day in this wonderful city by visiting "Bath Abbey" https://www.bathabbey.org
It is an Anglican parish church which is a former Benedictine monastery and at this time of Christmas there is a sweet atmosphere that reigns there and several events coming too.

C'est une église paroissiale anglicane qui est un ancien monastère bénédictin et en cette époque de Noël il y a une douce atmosphère qui y règne et plusieurs messes aussi.
